I’ve been betting poker now for about 5 years, I’ve bet cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various styles of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head casino game. I used to always win, whatever game we were wagering and even though I liked to call it skill, it was quite difficult to justify thinking about the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was happy to accept I was having a prolonged run of good fortune.
Then came Poker, or more importantly Hold’em Poker, made popular by a bunch of Texas card gamblers in the 1960’s and since developed into one of the largest card phenomena ever seen. Poker is totally the new black, it truly is super cool with a lot of of the world’s top celebrities racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick flick via the TV channels these days and you are able to not escape from poker, and of course there is the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each and every single gambler.
So with all of this new found recognition, with so a lot of Tv programmes dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with high quality material written by the leading minds on poker, when are men and women going to learn that this casino game is all about position!?
Perhaps I really should not have so worked up about this, after all the a lot more persons who wrestle with the subtle tactics and methods required for succeeding consistently at Hold em, the much better it really is for everyone else, appropriate? I mean, if they can’t be troubled to read all of the available information about why location is so important, why really should we bother? We ought to just be happy there is another fish at the table!
It is true, we really should not reward inactivity with advice and guide. Even so, I liken this to a welcoming game of football. Naturally the stakes are not so good, except when you see a gambler struggling, you guide them, offer them a few advice, ultimately showing them a way to love, love and appreciate the casino game as much as you. I am asking all home players to do exactly the same thing with their poker friends who have not quite grasped the nuances of playing position. Assist them to grow their respect for the game. Needless to say, don’t attempt to try this one in your neighborhood gambling establishment, the sharks will not take pleasure in you teaching their supper how to swim!
