Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest players around the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world might just be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen betting on web poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
