Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
He began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
