Ah, the steam. If a poker enthusiast states never to have looked down the barrel of a looming poker tilt – they’re either lying or they have not been playing very long. This does not indicate of course that every player has been on steam in the past, a few people have great control and carry their squanderings as a hit and leave it at that. To be a powerful poker player, it’s especially important to treat your wins and your defeats in an identical way – with no emotion. You participate in the match in the same manner you did following a hard beat like you would after winning a huge hand. Most of the poker masters are not tempted by tilting after a horrible beat as they are particularly professional and you really should be to.

You have to be aware that you won’t win each and every hand you are in, even if you are heavily favored. Hands that commonly cause players to go on tilt are hands you were the leading choice or at least thought you were up until you were side swiped and you lost a large chunk of your stack. Bad beats are bound to develop. Accept that reality right now, I will say it once more – if your sister plays cards, if your father plays cards, if your grandparents play cards – We all have bad losses at some point. It is an unavoidable outcome of competing in Holdem, or really any kind of poker.

Seeing as we are assumingly (almost all of us) playing poker for a single purpose – to win $$$$, it would make sense that we will play accordingly to maximize our profit potential. Now let’s say you are up $100 off of a 100 dollars deposit, and you suffer a gigantic blow in a No Limits game and your bankroll is down to $120. You’ve squandered eighty dollars in a round where you were certain to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you decided to go all-in on the flop and enjoyed a ten to one advantage. And that fiend! He bled you dry on the river? – Well stop right there. This is a classic opportunity for a fresh bettor to begin tilting. They really just blew too much cash on one hand that they should have won and they’re aggravated
