Stu is regarded by most to the greatest No Limit Hold’em Poker gambler ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champion was born in New York in 1953 and began betting poker before becomming a teenager.

The young gambler began playing gin and at the age of ten had won his primary gin tournament, while on holiday with his parents. By the age of fourteen the small poker genius had turned professional and dropped out of school.

In 1954 Stu Ungar entered the history books by winning 10 grand in a gin rummy tournament without sacrificing a single hand, a record which still remains in New York these days.

The fast talking superstar has been likened, in poker terms, to athletic superstars such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu had a true talent for wagering poker except despite his successes in Texas hold’em poker, he favored betting gin.

Stu once said that there may a number of day be a improved No Limit Holdem gambler than him except he could not see how anyone could ever be a much better gin gambler.

In 1980 Stu Ungar was put on the world map as one of the very best Texas hold em Poker gamblers in the world when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the very first time. Amazingly it was the 1st time he had played in the tournament.

The right after year he dismissed any thoughts that it had been luck, by effectively defending his title. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by succeeding his 3rd World poker championship.

Except this poker legend also struggled with drug abuse and a year right after succeeding his third title Stu Ungar died in his hotel room. According to medical doctors, he had died from cardiac arrest which was caused by his lifestyle.
