Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most complicated but popular poker variations. It’s a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for play from all levels of players. This is the primary reason why a once invisible game, has expanded in acceptance so quickly.

Omaha 8 or better starts exactly like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to each player. A round of wagering follows where gamblers can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are dealt out, this is known as the flop. A further sequence of betting happens. Once all the players have in turn called or folded, an additional card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of betting follows at which point the river card is flipped. The entrants will need to make the best high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where many players get baffled. Unlike Holdem, in which the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi/lo the player must utilize precisely 3 cards from the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. Not a single card more, no less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is just what it sounds like. It is the strongest hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the same approach in nearly all poker games.

A low hand is more difficult, but certainly free’s up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that can be put together, with the lowest being A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there is no low hand available, the high hand wins the complete pot.

While it seems difficult at first, following a couple of hands you will be agile enough to get the fundamental subtleties of the game with ease. Seeing as you have players wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are being used at once, Omaha 8 or better provides an amazing collection of wagering options and seeing that you have many individuals shooting for the high hand, along with several shooting for the low. If you like a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to play Omaha High-Low.
