Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve closing table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found playing online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
