Online poker has become globally celebrated recently, with televised championships and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, arcs back quite a bit farther than its television ratings. Over the years several variations on the earliest poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the gamblers wager against the house rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or different kinds of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up prior to the croupier saying "No further bets." At that point, both you and the dealer and of course every one of the different players receive five cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the bank’s initial card, you have to either make a call wager or give up. The call wager’s value is akin to your beginning wager, which means that the risks will have doubled. Abandoning means that your bet goes immediately to the dealer. After the bet comes the face off. If the dealer does not have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, including a sum on par with the original bet. If the house does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand is greater than the casino’s hand. The bank pony’s up chips even with your original bet and set expectations on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
