Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
