Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world might just be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
